Tribeca Festival Premieres
The Tribeca Festival, taking place from June 4th to 15th, will feature the world premieres of two documentary films and two narrative features represented by Andrew Herwitz’s Film Sales Company.
Documentary Films
Two documentary films will be showcased at the festival. The first, It’s Dorothy!, directed by Jeffrey Mchal, explores the cultural significance of Dorothy Gale, the heroine of L. Frank Baums 125-year-old classic The Wizard of Oz. The film uses archival material and interviews with women who have portrayed Dorothy, including Judy Garland and Diana Ross, to examine the character’s enduring appeal.
The second documentary, She Leads the World, tells the story of American athlete Allyson Felix, the most decorated athletics Olympian of all time. The film, directed by Perri Peltz and Matthew O’Neill, highlights Felix’s courageous stand against her sponsor, Nike, after she announced her pregnancy and was offered reduced terms and maternity protection.
Narrative Features
The narrative features include On a String, a comedy-drama that follows the life of a Juilliard-trained ventriloquist living with her parents in New York City. The film marks the functional debut of stand-up comedian Isabel Hagen and will be showcased in the US narrative competition.
The second narrative feature, Westhampton, is a thriller directed by Christian Nilsson, who previously directed Dashcam. The film follows an emerging filmmaker who confronts his traumatic past, with Finn Wittrock playing the lead role. Westhampton will be featured in the Spotlight narrative selection.
