An Unforgettable Night in New York City
The Kante-Das Himmelskratzer-Outdoor observation deck, located in Hudson Yards, is not typically known for its concert events. However, on a recent Friday evening, it was transformed into a vibrant music venue as part of Samsung’s partnership with the talented rapper Doechii.
A Unique Partnership
Doechii, dubbed the "Hip-hop disruptor of the year" by Diversity, joined forces with Samsung to promote the new Galaxy S25 Edge phone. The event featured a live stream performance, which was not just a ordinary concert, but an immersive experience that turned the entire town into a "swamp in the sky". The scene was set with sham-tropical scenes, complete with young people and dry ice, creating an otherworldly atmosphere.
An Unforgettable Setting
As attendees arrived at the venue, they were greeted with ads for the Samsung partnership with Doechii on the subway ride to Hudson Yards. The mini-megalopolis was buzzing with excitement, and the elevator ride to the edge was filled with anticipation. Upon arrival, the foggy weather added to the mystique, creating a surreal experience. The cloudy front made for a San Francisco-like view, with fog nudging through the city’s skyline and only the top of the highest buildings visible.
Inside the Event
The observation deck was packed with several hundred specially invited guests, who were dressed in "Casual Chic" attire. The atmosphere was lively, with free drinks and snacks being served by waiters. As the doors opened to the observation deck, the participants flocked down the illuminated stairs, leading to the deck. Music filled the air, and the rain stains falling from the sky added to the drama, but luckily, the serious rain stopped later in the evening.
Doechii Takes the Stage
After the employees had dried out the two-stage steps leading to the stage, the old school beat of the "peanuts" filled the air, and Doechii appeared on the stairs, dressed in a whipped beige jacket, high socks, and spike heels. She and DJ Miss Milan spit back and forth as the rapper worked her way down the towering staircase, each step about two feet under the next. Despite the challenging terrain, Doechii pulled off the performance without a hitch.
A High-Energy Performance
Doechii gradually made her way through the crowd onto the stage and performed several high-energy songs, including "Denial is a river" and "Nissan Altima". Although she didn’t play her biggest hit "Fear", the set was focused on high-energy songs, which kept the crowd engaged. The performance was a testament to Doechii’s talent and energy, and the crowd was left breathless as they made their way back through the faux-Everglades to catch the elevators back to reality.
