Introduction to Lisa’s Documentary

The global superstar Lisa, famous for being a part of Blackpink and now pursuing a successful solo recording career and acting, is the subject of a new documentary produced by Sony Music Vision and directed by Sue Kim. This announcement was made on Thursday evening during a pre-Sony music vision event in Hollywood, where several music film projects were discussed.

The Documentary’s Production

Kim was present at the event to talk about her film on Lisa, along with other directors like BAZ Luhrmann, who discussed his recently announced Elvis Presley documentary, and Frank Marshall, who showcased some footage from his Barbra Streisand documentary-in-progress. Kim revealed that she has been working with Lisa on the documentary for a year, although no release date has been specified. Unlike her previous work on lesser-known subjects, such as "The Last Sea Women" from A24, Kim is no stranger to K-POP, having been an executive producer for the Apple TV+ documentary "K-Pop Idols".

A Glimpse into the Documentary

A trailer for the film, shown during the presentation, featured Lisa’s concert performances, solo music, and intimate moments with her family. Kim shared that during their first meeting, Lisa immediately started sharing texts from her days before fame, expressing her desire to be part of the documentary. The documentary promises to give fans a unique insight into Lisa’s life, showcasing her journey as a solo artist and actress.

Lisa’s Statement

Lisa expressed her excitement about the project, stating, "This was such an unbelievable year, and I am so happy to have the opportunity to capture these special moments on film and share my experience with my fans. Working with Sue Kim was such a pleasure. We traveled all over the world, and I know that this is only the beginning of many exciting things."

Director’s Statement

Director Sue Kim added, "Following Lisa through this transformative and exciting year was a real honor and a cinematic gift. There were so many moments on her journey that I think will surprise people and give an insight into her world that has never been seen before. I look forward to audiences seeing the film and experiencing this extraordinary moment in her life."

Production and Distribution

The documentary is a production of Tremolo Productions in association with Salt Water Productions and Lloud Co. The producers include Morgan Neville and Caitrin Rogers for Tremolo, as well as Sue Kim and Courtney Crockett for Salt Water Productions. The executive producers include Alice Kang, Joojong Joe for Lloud Co.; Peter Edge, John Fleckenstein, and Camille Yorrick for RCA Records; and Tom Mackay, Krista Wegener, and Abby Davis for Sony Music Vision. The documentary is presented and distributed in association with RCA Records from Sony Music Vision.

Lisa’s Recent Projects

The documentary follows the recent release of Lisa’s debut solo album "Alter Ego" by Lloud Co./RCA. After a year of pursuing solo efforts, Blackpink is set to reunite for a tour this year. Additionally, Lisa made her acting debut in the latest season of "The White Lotus", which is also featured in the documentary.

Other Sony Music Vision Projects

The event also showcased other projects from Sony Music Vision, including BAZ Luhrmann’s presentation of his Elvis Presley documentary, "Epos: Elvis Presley in Concert". The company has been behind several documentary films directed by prestigious directors, such as Questlove’s Sly Stone Doc and the remastered version of a vintage Pink Floyd concert film.
