Phil Robertson’s Passing

Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the reality show "Duck Dynasty," has passed away at the age of 79. His family announced in December that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

A Life of Faith and Family

Robertson’s daughter-in-law, Korie Robertson, shared the news on Sunday, saying, "Today we celebrate that our father, our husband, and grandfather Phil Robertson are now with the Lord." She remembered how he often quoted Paul’s words, reminding them that those who have hope in Jesus do not mourn like those who have no hope. The family is grateful for the love and prayers of those whose lives were touched by Phil’s bold faith and his desire to share the good news of Jesus.

Legacy of Love

The Robertson family will continue Phil’s legacy of love for God and love for others until they see him again. They know that many people loved and were influenced by his life, and they plan to hold a private service for now, with a public celebration of his life to be announced soon.

A Life of Adventure and Entrepreneurship

Before becoming a reality TV star, Robertson worked as a teacher and commercial fisherman. He invented the Duck Commander Call, which turned into a multi-million dollar business under the direction of his son Willie Robertson.

"Duck Dynasty" and Its Impact

The reality show "Duck Dynasty" aired on A&E from 2012 to 2017 and became the most-watched non-fiction cable series in history in 2013. The show was presented in a sitcom format and followed the lives of the Robertson family, including Phil and his sons Jase, Willie, and Jep, as they ran their duck hunting business.

Controversy and New Beginnings

In 2013, Phil Robertson was suspended from the show after making comments about homosexuality being a sin, but his suspension was lifted after nine days. A new version of the show, "Duck Dynasty: Revival," is set to air on A&E this summer, featuring Korie and Willie Robertson, but Phil will not appear on the show.

A Life on the Big Screen

A film about Robertson’s life, "The Blind: The True History of the Robertson Family," was released in theaters in 2023. Robertson’s wife, "Miss Kay" Robertson, was hospitalized earlier this year after a fall. The couple, who married in 1966, had four sons, 16 grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as a daughter, Phyllis, from an out-of-marital relationship.
