What Could Have Been: David Tennant as Mister Fantastic
David Tennant, the former star of "Doctor Who," could have been the face of another major franchise. At MCM Comic Con, a fan asked him which superhero he would like to play, and he revealed that he was interested in playing Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic, in the upcoming Marvel movie "The Fantastic Four: First Steps."
Missing Out on the Role
Although the role of Mister Fantastic ultimately went to Pedro Pascal, Tennant had no hard feelings about missing out on the part. "In terms of superheroes, I always had Reed Richards in mind, and unfortunately, it looks like they’ve gone in a different direction," said Tennant. He expressed his happiness that the role went to Pedro Pascal, showing his support for the actor.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
"The Fantastic Four: First Steps" is set to hit theaters on July 25th. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing), Julia Garner as Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson as Galactus.
Upcoming Marvel Movies
After the release of "The Fantastic Four," comic fans will have to wait until July 31, 2026, for the next Marvel movie, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." This gap is the longest drought between MCU films since 2019’s "Spider-Man: Far From Home" and 2021’s "Black Widow."
Delays in the MCU
The extended break is due to the latest delay in "Avengers: Doomsday," which was originally scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, but has been pushed back to December 18, 2026. The sequel, "Avengers: Secret Wars," has also been delayed from May 7, 2027, to December 17, 2027. These delays have left fans eagerly awaiting the next installment in the MCU.
