Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool
The headliner Sam Fender ended the Saturday at the big weekend of Radio 1 with confetti and fireworks. His performance, which had some technical problems, contained crowd favorite hits seventeen, which went below hypherics rockets where fans sang into the night. The singer of North Shield shared the crowd that many in Newcastle United Kits, an allusion to Fender’s favorite team, to his set, who had attracted many – it was "the nervous thing I’ve ever been and I have no idea why".
Performances on the Main Stage
Fender followed Tom Odell, Sugababes, Myles Smith, Blossoms, and Wolf Alice, who also performed on the main stage in Sefton Park. In the audience, the fans celebrated the "unreal good mood" by Fenders set when they danced and sang to his catalog of hits. A fan, Charlene, said to Newsbeat: "It’s amazing, I always wanted to see him, I’m so happy that he is in Liverpool – our city."
Surprise Set by Ed Sheeran
For many, the highlight of the day came with a surprise set by Ed Sheeran. He was on the new music stage and said he chose that because he had "never played it" and had the feeling that the tent had "the best energy". Some fans were disappointments for some fans who had to pause temporarily after reaching the maximum capacity.
Other Performances
Further appearances on this stage were good neighbors, Artemas, Jordan Adetunji, and Aitch, who were on back-to-back with the good friend Aj Tracey. Aitch, a fan of Manchester United, and AJ Tracey, a Tottenham Hotspur fan, told the Newsbeat before her set "no bad blood" gave between them after Spurs United beat the Europa League. "It is difficult to deal with music, and if you do it, it’s a good feeling," said AJ Tracey.
Sugababes’ Energetic Set
The Girl Group Sugababes used to produce an energetic set a day and praised the crowd as "so amazing". And on the Hit -Push The Knopf published 20 years ago, she said to Newsbeat if it was currently published, "it would still be very topical".
Festival Overview
It is expected that more than 100,000 fans in Liverpool will take part in a big weekend, in which around 100 acts will appear in four stages. On the last day of the festival, Mumford & Sons will be a headline on Sunday evening. Tate McRae, Lola Young, Jorja Smith, Wet Leg, and Haim will also meet the main stage.
