Film Festival Winners Announced
The UN film festival in Cannes, which took place from May 13th to 24th, has announced its winners. The main prize was awarded to Diego Céspedes for his film The mysterious view of the Flamingo. This Chilean drama tells the story of a mysterious disease that is spread through the loving look of a man.
Best Film and Jury Prize
The film is produced by Chile Quijote films and Les Valseurs from France, with the sale of Scharaden. The jury’s prize went to Simon Mesa Soto’s A poet, a film shot in Medellin, Colombia, about an aging man who is obsessed with poetry and looks after a talented teenage girl.
Awards for Best Script and Director
The best script award was given to Harry Lighton for Passenger, which features Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgård. The best director prize was awarded to Palestinian filmmakers Tarzan and Arab Nasser for their film It was once in the Gaza.
Best Performance and Jury
The best performance award was given to Cléo Diaa for Pedro Pinho’s I only rest in the storm and Frank Dillane for Harris Dickinson’s feature directing debut Urban. The jury was headed by British filmmaker Molly Manning Walker and included French director and screenwriter Louise Courvoisier and Italian filmmaker Roberto Minervini.
