Introduction to the Film
Chinese director Bi Gan’s fantasy epic, Resurrection, has made its world premiere in the Cannes competition on May 22nd. The film was sold by Les Films du Losange to various countries, including Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Poland, South Korea, and the Baltics.

The film’s distribution rights have been acquired by several companies, including I Wonder in Italy, Plaion Pictures for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, Madfer Films and Films in Spain, Leopardo Films in Portugal, Weird Wave in Greece, New Horizons in Poland, Green Narae Media in South Korea, and Kino Pavasaris in the Baltics. Negotiations are currently underway for distribution in the USA, Japan, Latin America, as well as Australia and New Zealand.

Resurrection is set in a world where humanity has lost the ability to make decisions and can only live in a dream world. The story follows a woman who embarks on a journey to uncover the truth hidden in this dream world by following a mysterious creature. The film features an all-star cast, including Jackson Yee and Shu Qi.

The film is produced by China’s Huace Pictures and Dangmai Films, in collaboration with the French company CG Cinema. Resurrection was one of the last films to be screened at the Cannes competition before the award winners were announced on the final night.
