‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ Continues Warner Bros’ Hot Streak
Warner Bros celebrates a run of three consecutive global hits with the successful start of New Line Cinema’s Final Destination: Bloodlines. The film opened with an estimated $51.0 million in North America and the same amount in 74 international markets, bringing the total to $102.0 million. This makes it the top film at the global box office for the weekend.
The success follows hot on the heels of Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures’ A Minecraft Film (now at $928.6 million worldwide) and Warner Bros’ Sinner ($316.8 million). Final Destination: Bloodlines revived the franchise after a 14-year hiatus and has already overtaken the lifetime box office of Final Destination 2 ($90.9 million) and is set to overtake the franchise launcher Final Destination ($112.9 million).
‘Thunderbolts*’ and ‘Sinner’ Pass $300 Million Worldwide
Disney/Marvel’s Thunderbolts and Warner Bros’ Sinner both passed the $300 million mark at the global box office over the weekend. Thunderbolts added an estimated $32.2 million, bringing its global total to $325.7 million, while Sinner added $19.2 million, bringing its total to $316.8 million.
‘The Salt Path’ Scores in First Release Markets
The independent UK film The Salt Path has seen strong results in its first territory, the Netherlands. Adapted from Raynor Winn’s bestselling memoir, the film landed in second place at the Dutch box office, earning €588,000 ($659,000) from 89 locations in its first week. It added another €434,000 ($487,000) in its second week and €222,000 ($247,000) in its third week, bringing its total to €1.4 million ($1.6 million).
The film is set to open in Australia and New Zealand and will be released in the UK and Ireland on May 30th. The Salt Path tells the story of a British couple who lost everything and set out on a wild camping hike along the 630-mile South West Coast Path in England.
‘Karate Kid: Legends’ Hits $11.5 Million in Latin America
Sony’s early rollout of Karate Kid: Legends in 12 Latin American markets has seen the film earn an estimated $4.0 million in its second week, bringing its total to $11.5 million. The film is running 18% ahead of the previous Karate Kid film (2010) in the same markets at the same stage of release.
Karate Kid: Legends is the sixth film in the franchise and follows the television series Cobra Kai (2018-2025). The film will see a significant international expansion on May 30th, including releases in the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands.
