Frank Skinner Marries Girlfriend After 24 Years Together
The comedian and TV presenter, Frank Skinner, has revealed that he has married his long-term girlfriend, Cath Mason, after 24 years together. The news was shared on his podcast, Frank Off The Radio, with co-hosts Emily Dean and Pierre Novellie.
A Private Ceremony
Skinner, 68, announced that the wedding took place at Camden Town Hall, with their son Buzz, born in 2012, as the only witness. He joked that they didn’t invite anyone, saying "Don’t be offended, we haven’t invited anyone." The couple had a non-traditional wedding, with Mason wearing a floral dress instead of a white wedding dress.
Previous Proposals
In an interview with The Sun in 2024, Skinner revealed that he had asked Mason to marry him four times before, but she had always rejected him. He speculated that her parents’ divorce may have made her cynical about marriage. However, it seems that she finally agreed to tie the knot with him.
A Non-Traditional Wedding
Skinner said that Mason didn’t want a traditional wedding, and they didn’t exchange rings. Instead, they walked down the aisle to the song "Ceremony" by New Order, a Manchester post-punk band that held special meaning for the couple. Mason has also kept her own surname and is not wearing a wedding ring.
Why Now?
When asked why they decided to get married now, Skinner joked that it might be because he has too much money and wants to give her half of it in five years. However, he denied that it was a tax-related decision and added that he doesn’t plan to die soon.
Frank Skinner’s Career
Skinner is best known for writing the lyrics and singing the football song "Three Lions" with David Baddiel and The Lightning Seeds. He has also had a successful career in television and radio, hosting The Frank Skinner Show and Room 101 on the BBC. Currently, he hosts a podcast, Frank Off The Radio, which was previously a radio show on Absolute Radio.
