Introduction to the Adriatic Film and TV Awards

The Adriatic film and TV awards is a prestigious award ceremony that recognizes and rewards outstanding film and television productions from former Yugoslav countries. The ceremony was launched by three prominent film festivals in the region, including the Sarajevo film festival, the Zagreb Film Festival, and Serbia’s author film festival.

Objective and Scope

The awards aim to promote and celebrate the rich cultural heritage and creative talent of the Adriatic region. The ceremony will take place from October 24th to 26th of this year at the Porto Montenegro event location in Tivat, Montenegro. The winners will be selected by the newly established Adriatic Film and TV Academy, which is part of the Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region Organization (NFAR).

The Adriatic Film and TV Academy

The academy is a network of over 500 film and television experts from the region, who will come together to select the winners of the awards. The nominations for the awards will be announced in June 2025, during the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival, which will take place from August 15th to 22nd.

Replacement and Expansion of Existing Awards

The new awards will replace the Sarajevo Awards for TV series and will also include recognition for films. This expansion aims to provide a more comprehensive platform for celebrating the region’s film and television industry.

Partnership and Promotion

The Sarajevo Film Festival and NFAR have signed a strategic agreement with Porto Montenegro, which has recently launched the Porto Montenegro Studios film studio. The partnership aims to promote the region’s film and television industry and provide a platform for networking and collaboration among industry professionals.

Conclusion

The Adriatic film and TV awards ceremony will be a significant event in the region’s cultural calendar, bringing together leading talent and industry professionals to celebrate the best of film and television from former Yugoslav countries. The ceremony will take place in October and will provide a unique opportunity for networking and promotion of the Balkankino.
