Introduction to a Legendary Musician

Yusuf/Cat Stevens, one of the most renowned singer-songwriters of his generation, has announced the upcoming release of his memoirs. The autobiography, titled "Cat on the Street to Find Out," is set to hit the shelves on September 18 in Great Britain via Constable and on October 7th in North America via Genesis Publications.

A Career Spanning Decades

"Cat on the Street to Find Out" chronicles Stevens’ career, from his humble beginnings as a recording artist in the 1960s to his rise to superstardom in the 1970s with iconic records such as "The First Cut is the Deepest" and "Tea for the Tillerman." The book also delves into his life-changing experience in 1975, which inspired him to convert to Islam, change his name to Yusuf Islam, and temporarily leave the music industry behind.

A Return to Music and Accolades

After a hiatus, Yusuf/Stevens made a steady return to the music scene in the 1990s. He has since released several albums, including "Another Cup" in 2006, his first pop album in almost 30 years, and his latest album, "King of a Land" in 2023. He has also gone on tour several times, including his first comeback tour in 2014. With over 100 million records sold, Yusuf/Stevens was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2019.

A Journey of Self-Discovery

Yusuf/Stevens reflects on his incredible journey, which has taken him from the streets of London to the great stages of Western culture. He describes his experiences, saying, "I’ve been on an amazing journey, which began in the narrow streets of London and led me through the most iconic cities, to perform upon the great stage of Western culture… freely exploring vast riches of religions and philosophies, wandering through churches, temples, all the way to the Holy Abode in Jerusalem." He credits a life-changing book with broadening his perspective, teaching him unity, and helping him find his place and purpose in the universe.
