Sadie Sink’s New Project

Foreign things star Sadie Sink had a clear vision for her next project after wrapping up the filming of the fifth and final season of the hit Netflix show. At just 23, Sink is back on Broadway, playing the lead role in the Tony-nominated Broadway play by playwright Kimberly Belflower, John Proctor is the Villain. The piece is connected to Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, but challenges the traditional view of Proctor as a hero through the lens of modern students.

Working with Kimberly Belflower

Belflower, who received a Tony nomination for her Broadway playwriting debut, raved about working with Sink, who plays the central role of Shelby Holcomb. "Sadie is incredible. As if I was her biggest fan," said Belflower. "She is only exceptional and she is an extraordinary artist and actor." Belflower revealed that Sink was looking for a new piece to work on, specifically wanting to be part of an ensemble rather than having a solo role.

Sink’s Performance

Belflower praised Sink’s use of facial expressions, which "conveys everything she’s feeling, and at the same time has this sense of armor." This is particularly useful in John Proctor is the Villain, as her character deals with feminist themes while studying The Crucible. "I think what’s so effective about her performance is when the cracks in that armor show," said Belflower.

Upcoming Projects

Once John Proctor is the Villain wraps up its limited Broadway run on July 6, Sink will join the current Spider-Man series. According to Deadline, Sink will debut in the upcoming fourth film, in which Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker. Fans have theorized that Sink could play the X-Men character Jean Gray in the film, who has telekinetic and telepathic powers. If Sink plays Gray, she will follow in the footsteps of Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner, who have played the role on the big screen.
