What’s Next for John Wick?
The action of "John Wick 5" may not be exactly what fans expect. In a recent discussion, franchise director Chad Stahelski revealed that the fifth "John Wick" film will be "really different" from the previous installments.
A New Storyline
The history of the High Table, which was the focus of the first four films, has come to its natural conclusion. According to Stahelski, "John Wick’s saga was quite packed," and the only way to move forward is to introduce a new story that affects John Wick. This new story will not be a sequel to the High Table, and John Wick will have dealt with his grief.
A Fresh Direction
Stahelski promises that the new film will be surprising, saying "everyone [will] see the trailer and go: ‘Saint fuck … I have to see that.’" This new direction will likely be exciting for fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series.
Upcoming John Wick Content
Fortunately for fans, there are many John Wick projects on the horizon to tide them over until the fifth film. These include "Ballerina" starring Ana de Armas, the TV show "Under the High Table," and an animated prequel film about John Wick’s exit from being a full-time assassin.
Building the John Wick Universe
The "High Table" series and the animated project will play a significant role in building the history for "John Wick 5". Stahelski stated that "The John Wick TV show and the animation are big priorities," and that they will be used to explore new ideas and topics that will catapult into the fifth film.
The Next Project: Ballerina
The next Wick-Verse project to hit cinemas will be "Ballerina", which follows a young female assassin who goes on a revenge mission after the death of her father. With all these exciting projects in the works, fans of the John Wick franchise have a lot to look forward to.
