Introduction to the 76th Berlin International Film Festival

The 76th Berlin International Film Festival will take place from February 12th to 22nd, 2026. This prestigious event has confirmed the participation of members from the British and international film industry, who will also be attending the BAFTA Film Awards on Sunday, February 22nd.

Festival Schedule and Events

The festival schedule includes the European Film Market in Berlin, which will run from February 11th to 18th next year. Additionally, the Berlinale Co-Production Market will take place from February 14th to 17th, while the Berlinale Talents event will be held from February 13th to 18th. The World Cinema Fund day is scheduled for February 17th.

A New Era for the Festival

This will be the first time since 2020 that the Berlinale and the BAFTAs will not be held on the same day, marking a new era for both events. Berlinale Director Tricia Tuttle expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming festival, stating, "After the great success of this year’s anniversary edition, we are now starting for 2026. We look forward to celebrating cinema again with the film industry and the audience and being a platform for the global film industry."

Past Success and Future Expectations

The 2025 Berlinale broke its visitor record, with over 336,000 tickets sold. The film "Dreams (sex love)" by Dag Johan Haugerud won the prestigious Golden Bear award in competition. With such a successful precedent, expectations are high for the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, which promises to be an exciting celebration of cinema and a platform for the global film industry.
