Introduction to Veeps and its Expansion
Veeps, a live streaming platform owned by Live Nation and co-founded by Joel and Benji Madden, has expanded its business to include narrative films. One of the first titles available is the dramedy "Nora" from indie outfit Indie Rights.
About the Film "Nora"
After a theatrical release by Suncatcher Productions and Blonde Dog Productions, "Nora" will make its global streaming debut on Veeps on Saturday, May 24th. The feature film, written and directed by Anna Campbell, follows Nora, a singer-songwriter who gives up her music career to raise her child in the suburbs. However, her dreams have other plans, and she navigates her musical endeavors through bizarre music videos that capture her truth.
Reception and Release
The lyrical film premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival in March, where it was described as "a visceral portrait of a woman in rediscovery" and won the New Vision award. "Nora" was released in cinemas across the country, including New York, Los Angeles, Portland, and Washington, D.C. Due to excessive interest, the Portland and LA runs were extended. Thanks to the partnership with Live Nation’s Veeps, the lyrical film can now reach a wider audience.
Partnership with Veeps
"We are thrilled to be one of the first narrative films to premiere on Veeps and work with a platform that completely understands Nora’s original soundtrack," said Campbell. "Our shared commitment to the emotional thrill that is music gives us a unique opportunity to reach fans. This is a film that celebrates the MTV child in all of us. It’s a dream partnership and an incredible opportunity to show that indie filmmakers can connect with their audience."
Availability and Special Features
Access to the special screening event starts at $14.99, which includes exclusive cast and crew interviews. Tickets for the "Nora" event will be available on the Veeps website. Veeps will also offer vinyl LPs of the film’s soundtrack, which features appearances by Campbell, Lesley Ann Warren, Kate Miner, Jay Walker, and Nick Fink, as well as original music by industrial veteran Noah Harmon.
Innovative Distribution Strategy
The partnership also includes a unique component for its distribution strategy: champions of the film are invited to participate in its financial success by using affiliate links. This approach allows fans to promote the film and sell tickets, providing an opportunity for the film’s message to reach a wider audience.
Veeps’ Vision and Mission
"Nora is a wonderful film that has a deep sense of hope and insight for the viewers and feels like the feeling of a live performance or an intimate documentary. This type of storytelling resonates strongly with the Veeps audience," said Veeps Director of Marketing Julie Seamons. "Going to a live show or a cinema is not always an option for mothers and caregivers. So, it’s a fantastic way to deliver a fantastic opportunity for the film’s message to deliver ‘Nora’ directly to living rooms."
Conclusion and Future Plans
Since 2018, Veeps has streamed millions of viewers worldwide for artists such as Billie Eilish, Bob Dylan, Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton, Foo Fighters, and Kings of Leon. In 2023, the company announced the launch of Veeps All Access, a subscription model that offers unlimited access to live stream and on-demand content, including a comedy vertical. With its expansion into narrative films, Veeps continues to innovate and provide unique experiences for its audience.
