A Puppy’s Miraculous Recovery

A rescued puppy’s story began with tragedy, but he won’t let it get him down. The little dog, named Stormzy, was hit by a car and suffered brain damage. He could barely move, had swelling in his brain, and had little control over his own body.

The Turning Point

When a vet suggested it would be best to put the poor pup down, advocate and animal rescuer Niall Harbison disagreed. Harbison believed Stormzy was still trying and that there was more life in him, so he and his team decided to give the dog every chance of survival he could get.

Road to Recovery

Stormzy must have felt the positive energy because he quickly got better. Just a few weeks later, the dog was running and playing like any other dog and even started scratching his stomach. He was no longer able to stand or lift his head on his own but made a pleasing recovery.

Learning New Tricks

Despite the brain damage, Stormzy even learned new tricks. He learned to sit on command, which marked a major step forward. His ability to learn new things was a testament to his strength and resilience.

A New Lease on Life

On Sunday, Stormzy was able to run "at top speed in a straight line" for the first time, noting that "he could have run all day." His youthful energy kept him getting back up, and he never stopped trying. According to VCA Animal Clinics, brain injuries and swelling in dogs can affect their ability to perform basic tasks, but younger dogs tend to have a more positive attitude.

A New Home

Luckily for Stormzy, his owner found Harbison and his team, and today he has found a new home in Thailand. The happy pup apparently had interest from “all over the world,” but the best home was right here, where he was cared for by a couple on the island of Phuket. This means no flight for him, just a short trip, and all of his living conditions are met, and he will never be that far away if he ever needs medical attention.
