Introduction to Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold

Google has made its third attempt at a foldable device, and it’s the best one they’ve done yet. The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is slightly cheaper than Samsung’s main rival, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and comes with a handy bonus worth £227.

Look and Feel

The 10 Pro Fold stays true to the Pixel design and is largely similar to the other models in the series. However, the rounded edges on one side and the sharper edge in the connection area are not ideal. The camera panel is also quite bulky. The device feels pretty heavy at 258g, which is slightly heavier than last year’s 9 Pro Fold and significantly heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. The weight gives the device a strong and robust feel, which is even more important when you’re dealing with a foldable device.

Displays

The displays on the 10 Pro Fold are incredibly bright and ooze color, definition, and richness. Watching TV shows on it is a great experience, both on the big screen and as a stand. The annoying crease in the middle is still visible when you open the foldable device, but it’s so faint that you won’t even notice it when you’re using something.

Performance and Features

Google continues to use its own Tensor chip in Pixel smartphones, which has seen a performance boost this year. The device runs Android 16, the latest version of the operating system, and works smoothly without any issues. Many new and existing features are AI-focused, and many are also photography-based. Other tools at your disposal include Voice Translate, which translates calls in real-time and sounds like each speaker’s own voice.

Battery

Google has given the Fold a much-needed battery boost. The additional screens require more power, so don’t expect the best battery on the market. However, it will get you through the day without any problem. The device can handle everyday tasks like sending messages, surfing on the way to work, watching videos, and playing the odd game. There is also a handy battery saver mode and additional battery-saving options.

Camera

Google has retained the same cameras as last year’s Fold. These include a 48-megapixel main camera, a 10.8-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, and a 10.5-megapixel ultrawide camera. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold still takes great snapshots, even of moving objects. You have all the handy additional AI features like Add Me and the new Camera Coach, which gives you on-screen tips to improve your photos.

Price

The big sticking point with the 10 Pro Fold is the price. Foldable models are still quite expensive, and this phone is no exception, starting at a whopping £1,749. You can trade in your old phone for a bit of a discount in many places, which is helpful – Google is offering up to £850 off straight away. As an added bonus, Google AI Pro is free for a year, worth £227.

Verdict

The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the company’s best foldable device yet. It feels pretty durable, which is very important for a foldable device. The glossy display is great, and Android is also at its best here. However, the camera isn’t as great as Samsung’s – or the other Pixel 10 devices either. The battery is just fine, and the price is still quite high. Rating: 3.5 / 5.
