New Projects and Releases
Daniela Ruah, star of NCIS: Los Angeles, is directing a romantic short film called My Type, which features Sadie Stanley from Cruel Summer and Jacob Ward from The Summer House. The film is inspired by a true story and follows two twenty-somethings whose shared experience with type 1 diabetes sparks an unexpected love affair. Shot on 16mm film, the project reunites Ruah with cinematographer Rafael Leyva, known for his work on Narcos: Mexico. The film is produced by Nicole MacNaughton and her sister Kimberly Pinkson under their banner High High Productions, and filming is currently underway in Santa Barbara.
Horror Film Releases
Caroline Williams, known for her role in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, will star in the horror film Anathema: The Devil’s Doll. The indie horror picture, directed by Marcel Walz, begins filming this month and tells the story of a group of friends who encounter an ancient curse and must survive until dawn as a malevolent force hunts them. The cast also includes Robert Craighead, Ramiro Leale, Bix Krieger, Esmeree Sterling, Erika K. Marks, Kasia Szarek, Theo Rosenfeld, Brandon Papo, Monte Pittman, Nicholas Olbina, Dean Benfit, and Olga Loera. The film is scheduled to release in 2026.
International Deals and Acquisitions
NBCUniversal International Networks & DTC Latin America has concluded a deal with distributor ITV Studios to acquire the rights to several shows, including Love Island USA, Love Island Games, and Love Island All Stars. The package also includes 290 hours of documentary content, such as Abused by her mother: The Ruby Franke scandal and I Cut Off His Penis: The Truth Behind the Headlines.

Morocco has been set as the country of focus for the upcoming European Film Market (EFM) in 2026. The European Film Market will take place from February 12th to 18th and will celebrate Moroccan cinema, which has a proud history of storytelling that resonates far beyond its borders. The festival director, Tricia Tuttle, stated that Moroccan voices bring distinctive perspectives to the Berlinale and festivals worldwide, and that their work draws on deep cultural roots while addressing contemporary issues with originality and power.
