Chris Hemsworth’s Journey with His Father

Chris Hemsworth is sharing his family’s experiences with dementia, a disease that affects over 57 million people worldwide. In a new documentary, Chris and his father Craig embark on a road trip across Australia, exploring the power of social connection and memory.

The Road Trip

The documentary, directed by Tom Barbor-Might, follows Chris and his father as they travel through Australia on a motorbike. Craig has been diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer’s, and Chris wants to do everything he can to help him. As they visit different locations, Chris notices that these places immediately bring back memories for his father.

Strengthening Memories

The trip is not only a way for Chris and his father to bond but also an opportunity to strengthen Craig’s memories. With the guidance of Dr. Suraj Samtani, a dementia specialist, they explore the science of social connection and how it can help fight the disease. Dr. Samtani has been working with the Hemsworth family for a year, and his expertise has been invaluable to their journey.

A Personal Journey

Chris had always wanted to take a trip with his father to the Northern Territory, where their family used to live. However, they never had the time until now. The trip has been a profound and moving experience for Chris, and he is grateful to have had the opportunity to share it with his father.

The Documentary

The documentary is produced by Protozoa, Nutopia, and Wild State for National Geographic. It features a team of executive producers, including Tom Watt-Smith, Peter Lovering, and Jane Root. The documentary premieres on November 23 on National Geographic and airs on November 24 on Disney+ and Hulu.

A Message of Hope

Chris Hemsworth’s journey with his father is a message of hope for those affected by dementia. It shows that with the right support and care, people with dementia can still live fulfilling lives and create meaningful connections with their loved ones. The documentary is a must-watch for anyone interested in learning more about dementia and the power of social connection.
