Concerns and Conflicts

An older man living in a lakefront home recently spotted an alligator swimming about 50 yards away. This sighting has left him concerned about his neighbor, a slightly older woman who enjoys being active in the water. He is unsure whether to inform her about the alligator, fearing it might scare her and ruin her joy in swimming. On the other hand, not telling her could put her in danger.

A Call to Action

The man’s dilemma is met with a straightforward response: his neighbor’s life is more important than her swimming. Failing to warn her about the potential danger could lead to severe consequences, including injury or even death. The man is advised to speak up and warn his neighbor about the alligator sighting. Additionally, he is reminded that he himself could also be at risk of being bitten if he continues to swim in the same area.

Marital Strife

A couple married for 56 years has been experiencing constant arguments and conflicts over the past year. Despite their long-standing relationship, they find themselves disagreeing on both significant and insignificant matters. The couple acknowledges that they still love each other but no longer seem to like each other. They are seeking a mediator, preferably someone over 55 years old, who can listen to both sides and provide an objective solution to their problems.

Seeking a Solution

The couple’s search for a mediator has been challenging, as they have come across therapists who specialize in areas such as drug addiction, young couples, and dysfunctional families. These therapists are often younger than their adult children, which is not what they are looking for. The couple needs someone experienced and trained to listen to both sides of the issue and provide a solution or opinion on how to resolve their conflicts amicably. They are advised to seek a marriage and family therapist, preferably someone older, who can help them find a compromise and work through their issues.
