Introduction to Good Boy
On the eve of the US cinema publication of the SXSW-hit film, the independent film company, along with Shudder, has announced that it has sold international rights to the supernatural thriller, Good Boy. This film is unique in that it is told from the perspective of a dog.
The Plot of Good Boy
The film, which is Ben Leonberg’s feature debut, stars his own pet, Indy, as a loyal friend who moves to the country with his owner, Todd. They relocate to a creepy, old family house where Indy begins to feel invisible presences, follows phantom traces, and receives warnings from a ghostly dog. As Indy delves deeper into the mysteries of the house, he uncovers insights into the cruel death of the previous inhabitant. When a dark influence threatens their lives, Indy must take action to protect himself and his owner.
International Sales and Screenings
The film has been sold to various countries, including Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Latin America, Portugal, Indonesia, Benelux, and Scandinavia. Rights have also been acquired in the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam, China, Greece, Hungary, India, Baltics, Ukraine, Bulgaria, and airlines. Good Boy will be released in the United States and will also open in over 1,500 screens in France, Spain, and Germany later this month.
Festivals and Awards
The genre title has played at several international festivals, including Overlook, Sitges, Bucheon, Fantasia, Octopus Film Festival in Poland, Fantasy Film Festival in Germany, and Strasburg European Fantastic Film Festival in France. After its premiere at SXSW last March, the film received the Howl of Fame Award for the best Canine performance. The independent film company acquired all English-speaking territories, including Great Britain and Australia.

The script was written by Leonberg and Alex Cannon, and Leonberg and Kari Fischer served as producers. The film stars Shane Jensen, Arielle Friedman, and horror veterans Larry and Fessen and Stuart Rudin.
