Introduction to Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair

Quentin Tarantino’s "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair" is a combined version of "Kill Bill Vol. 1" and "Kill Bill Vol. 2". This film will receive its first nationwide cinema release from Lionsgate on December 5. The release will include presentations in 70 mm and 35 mm, with plans for all major markets to participate.

Tarantino’s Vision

Tarantino wrote and directed "Kill Bill" as a single film, and he is excited to give fans the chance to see it as intended. In a statement, he expressed his enthusiasm for the release, saying that the best way to experience "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair" is in a cinema, preferably in glorious 70 mm or 35 mm.

What to Expect

"The Whole Bloody Affair" removes the cliffhanger ending from "Kill Bill Vol. 1" and the recap opener from "Kill Bill Vol. 2", presenting the story as a single, coherent action film. The release will also include a 7 1/2-minute animation sequence that has never been seen before. This sequence is a unique addition to the film, and fans are eagerly anticipating its release.

History of Kill Bill

"Kill Bill" was originally designed and filmed as a single feature, but it was divided into two installments during post-production due to its epic four-hour runtime. The two parts were released six months apart, in October 2003 and April 2004. Despite being released separately, the films were a major success, grossing over $330 million worldwide.

Previous Screenings

Tarantino premiered "The Whole Bloody Affair" at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006, and it was screened outside of competition. In 2008, he planned to release the film as a single publication for the first time, but it was delayed. The film finally debuted in 2011 at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles, which is owned by Tarantino. However, it had a limited run and was not widely released until last summer, when it was screened at the Vista Theater in LA.

Distribution and Availability

Lionsgate is currently managing the library distribution rights for several Tarantino films, including "Reservoir Dogs", "Jackie Brown", "Inglourious Basterds", "Django Unchained", "The Hateful Eight", and "Death Proof". With the release of "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair", fans will have the opportunity to experience Tarantino’s vision for the film in its entirety.
