Introduction to the International Film Festival Glasgow

The International Film Festival Glasgow has announced its lineup for its 12th edition, which will take place from November 12th to 16th. The festival will open with Blue Moon by Richard Linklater, starring Ethan Hawke and Andrew Scott, and will close with Joachim Trier’s Grand Prix winner from Cannes, Sentimental Value, starring Stellan Skarsgård, Elle Fanning, and Renate Reinsve.

Documentary Homage to a Scottish Punk Band

The festival will also feature a documentary homage to the Scottish punk band, The Skids. The documentary, titled The Skids: Revolution, is directed by Colin Graham and Laura Graham and explores the band’s impact on the punk scene in Glasgow. The film screening will be followed by a live music performance by local musicians. The Skids were a legendary but short-lived band that emerged in the 1970s and left a lasting impression on the music scene.

Featured Films

The festival will showcase a diverse range of films, including Stanislav Hristov’s The Therapy, a drama about an eccentric psychologist who uses unconventional methods to heal her patients. Other featured films include Annapurna Srirasa’s surrealistic dark comedy drama FuckToys, Vasilis Kekatos’ Our Wildest Days, which follows a young woman who leaves her dysfunctional family to join a group of romantic outsiders, and Harry Lighton’s Passenger, a drama starring Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling.

Food and Film Experience

The festival will also feature the return of "Reel Tasty: Food & Film Experience", a curated food and film event that combines independent cinema with a tasting menu. This year’s film is Alonso Ruizpalacios’ The Kitchen, starring Rooney Mara and Raúl Briones, which tells the story of a cook who becomes caught between the pressures of work and a complicated romance with a waitress. The event promises to be an immersive experience, with the tasting menu complementing the action on the screen.
