Honoring Film Legends

The Rome Film Festival, taking place from October 15th to 26th, is set to honor three renowned film directors: Richard Linklater, Edgar Reitz, and Nia Dacosta. These talented individuals will be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the world of cinema.

Richard Linklater: A Master of Storytelling

Richard Linklater, the director of the iconic "Before" trilogy, which includes Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight, as well as the critically acclaimed film Boyhood, will be honored at the festival. Linklater’s latest film, New Wave, which premiered at Cannes, will also be showcased in Rome. The award will be presented to him by Italian director Marco Bellocchio.

Edgar Reitz: A German Filmmaking Icon

Edgar Reitz, a prominent German filmmaker known for his work on Heimat, will receive the Master of Film Award. Reitz will present his latest film, Leibniz Chronicle of a Lost Painting, which explores the life of German philosophers. The Master of Film Award will be presented by Italian director Nanni Moretti.

Nia Dacosta: A Rising Star

Nia Dacosta, a talented New York-based director, will receive the Progressive Lifetime Achievement Award. Dacosta has directed notable films such as the crime drama Little Woods, the horror film Candyman, and the fantasy film The Magnificent. She will also present her interpretation of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, titled Hedda, at the festival.
