Box Office Results in Great Britain and Ireland

The latest box office results in Great Britain and Ireland have been released, showing the top five films for the weekend of September 19-21.

Top Five Films

The top five films for the weekend were:

  1. Downton Abbey: The Great Finale (United Kingdom) – £2.3 million
  2. The Magic: Last Rites (US) – £1.5 million
  3. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle (Japan) – £907,171
  4. The Long Walk (US) – £820,447
  5. The Roses (UK-US) – £602,000

Performance of Each Film

Downton Abbey: The Great Finale held the top spot for the second weekend, adding £2.3 million to its total. This is a 49% drop from the previous weekend, bringing its total to £10.1 million.

The Magic: Last Rites rose to second place, adding £1.5 million to its total. This is a 47% drop from the previous weekend, bringing its total to £15 million.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle took third place, with a significant drop of 74% from its opening weekend. It added £907,171 to its total, bringing it to £5 million.

The Long Walk fell to fourth place, adding £820,447 to its total. This is a 27% drop from the previous weekend, bringing its total to £2.6 million.

The Roses took fifth place, adding £602,000 to its total. This is a 36% drop from the previous weekend, bringing its total to £8.5 million.

Comparison to Previous Films

The Magic: Last Rites has already exceeded the total box office takings of the previous films in the series, including The Magic (£10.5m, 2013), The Enfield Case (£11m, 2016), and The Devil Made Me Do It (£9.6m, 2021).

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has also exceeded the total box office takings of the previous films in the series, with a total of £5 million.

Other Films

A Big, Brave, Nice Journey started slowly, taking £532,327 from 649 locations. This reflects the soft international start of the film.

Overall Box Office Performance

The top five films took a total of £6.1 million, a 53% drop from the previous weekend. However, this is still a 28% increase from the same weekend last year, as cinemas in Great Britain look to follow a difficult August with a better September.

The highly-rated film One Battle After Another from Paul Thomas Anderson is expected to perform well this weekend, offering a good chance for Warner Bros. to take the top spot.
