The Teenage Millionaire
Introduction to Success
Most youthful boys play video games or play with a ball outside, but this teenager in Seattle has more money in his pocket than most adults twice his age. He invented an extremely successful card game called Taco vs. Burrito at the age of 7, which transformed him into a 15-year-old millionaire.
The Accidental Creation
The young entrepreneur designed the game “accidentally” after spending a large part of his childhood playing card games with his family. His parents, seeing how serious he was about creating a card game, started a GoFundMe website to pay for the expensive production costs.
Turning a Dream into Reality
The family managed to collect $25,000, which they used to create their own business, Hot Taco Inc. They selected a manufacturer and finally launched the game on Amazon for $20. The reaction to the game was beyond anything the young Butler could have imagined. By 2018, the family had earned almost $1.1 million, and the game is now an Amazon bestseller.
Selling the Game
At a certain point, the high school student was ready to part with his original concept. Last month, he sold Taco vs. Burrito in a lucrative contract to Playmonster in Wisconsin. The family did not announce how much the game sold, but it is likely to have many zeros in the end.
Plans for the Future
When asked what he wants to do with the money, the teenager has his eyes on one thing: "A lambo." Butler is not the only teenager who has achieved success, as 2 out of 5 American teenagers learn how to earn money online. With the rise of online platforms, it has become easier for young people to turn their ideas into successful businesses.
The Ease of Online Entrepreneurship
According to Cameron Zoub, co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of an online business platform, "In the past, they had to find somewhere to sell a product, set up a payment platform, network, and build up a community of potential customers before they could even think about launching their own company. Now you only need a phone and an internet connection."
