Flight Delays Cause Chaos for Passengers

Introduction to the Problem

The passengers on several flights from Jaipur to Dubai experienced delays of up to nine hours on the weekend, due to the chaos of vacation and recurring technical problems that disturbed one of the region’s busiest routes. The delays, in which flyers were stranded without timely updates, reflected similar disorders in the sector in Mumbai and Dubai.

Delays and Their Impact

On Sunday, Spicejet’s SG 57 was finally departed from Jaipur to Dubai at 6:22 p.m., about nine hours behind its planned start at 9:30 a.m. Flight tracking data confirms the delay, which airport officials stated was due to a technical problem in Dubai. Another flight, SG 58, originally scheduled for departure from Dubai at 3:40 a.m., finally took off at 12:19 p.m. and landed in Jaipur at 5:34 p.m.

Passenger Experience

Passengers expressed frustration over the lack of information and the long wait. "There was no information for hours. We only waited at the goal," said one passenger. Another passenger commented, "We could have done a tour in nine hours." The ordeal came a day after the Air India Express flight from Jaipur to Dubai was delayed by almost six hours on Saturday, despite the inbound flight arriving on time.

Recurring Delays

Spicejet’s SG 57 had also experienced a significant delay on July 8, starting seven hours behind schedule. The disorders stretched to Mumbai, where Spicejet’s SG 59 was delayed by 11 hours on Sunday, triggering heated clashes between passengers and staff.

Airline Response

Spicejet later made an explanation, recognizing the disorder. "The plane was serviced and the operation took longer than expected, with the operational crew crossing its flight duration restrictions (FDTL)," said a Spicejet spokesman, adding that the airline regretted the inconveniences caused to passengers. The airline’s response came after viral videos showed travelers sitting on the terminal floor, singing slogans, and accusing the airline of not providing them with food or water while waiting for updates.
