Experiencing Permanent Jet Lag

Early Bedtime Habits

As a child, going to bed early was a common practice. Where children often went to bed an hour later, bedtime was often much earlier, around six o’clock, due to feeling tired and wanting to sleep.

Childhood and Bedtime Routine

During childhood, the difference in bedtime did not seem noticeable. Having a mother with the same habits made it feel like a normal routine, and there was no sense of being different. The early sleep phase syndrome did not appear to be a bother during primary school years.

Impact on Social Life

However, the symptoms of the early sleep phase syndrome became more apparent during student days. The earlier bedtime made it challenging to participate in social activities. It was difficult to go out or have fun with others when they started their activities, as it felt like midnight. This made socializing a struggle due to the difference in sleep schedules.
