Introduction to F1: The Film

The director of the upcoming movie F1: The Film, Joseph Kosinski, has revealed why Simone Ashley’s role was cut from the final version of the film. Ashley, known for her role in Bridgerton, had joined the cast of the Formula 1 racing drama alongside Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. However, details about her specific role were scarce.

The Decision to Cut Ashley’s Role

Kosinski explained to People magazine that the decision to cut Ashley’s part was a common occurrence in filmmaking. "It happens in every film where you have to shoot more than you can use," he said. The director added that there were two or three plot lines that were ultimately not included in the final cut of the movie.

Praise for Simone Ashley

Despite cutting her role, Kosinski had praise for Ashley, calling her an "incredible talent, an incredible actress, an incredible singer." He expressed his desire to work with her again in the future. Ashley’s role in the film has been reduced to a brief appearance with no dialogue.

The Movie’s Plot

F1: The Film follows the story of Sonny Hayes, a former F1 driver played by Brad Pitt, who comes out of retirement to mentor a younger driver, Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris. The movie also features Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, and Kim Bodnia in leading roles. Real-life F1 drivers also make cameo appearances in the film.

Ashley’s Experience

Although Ashley’s role was cut, she had spoken about her experience working on the film. In an interview with Elle magazine, she described it as a "crazy" experience and expressed her gratitude for being a part of the movie. She also mentioned that she had attended several Grand Prix events, which was a unique experience for her.

Release Date

F1: The Film is set to hit theaters on June 27th. Despite the cuts to Ashley’s role, the movie is expected to be an exciting and action-packed drama that explores the world of Formula 1 racing.
