Creating a Comfortable Space
Monique’s home has undergone a transformation since her partner Jan is no longer there. She recalls that Jan was not fond of her decorating style, which included a wide array of accessories and collections throughout the house. "He called it ‘Tuttemerul’," she says, indicating his disapproval of the cluttered space.
Personal Touches and Collections
Now, with the freedom to decorate as she pleases, Monique has made her home more comfortable and reflective of her personal taste. The space is filled with unique items, including old LPs, painted wine bottles, and even Jan’s silver shoes. A collection of matchboxes is also on display, showcasing Monique’s eclectic style.
Furniture Choices
In addition to her various collections, Monique has also incorporated specific furniture pieces into her home. The Platner chairs from Knoll are a notable example, which she finds to be a beautiful design. This choice is particularly significant, as Jan did not share her appreciation for these chairs, highlighting the differences in their decorating preferences.
