Premier Miton Appoints New Chairman
Introduction to the New Chairman
London-listed asset management group Premier Miton will this week appoint one of the city’s leading financial institutions as its next chairman. Christopher Williams, whose consulting career included stints at major financial institutions, will succeed Robert Colthorpe as chairman of Premier Miton.
Background of the New Chairman
Mr. Williams served as an adviser to the Treasury during the banking industry collapse in 2008, which led to the rescue of Britain’s biggest banks and the launch of a giant insurance company called the Asset Protection Scheme. He also advised on some of Europe’s largest bank mergers before the financial crash.
Responsibilities of the New Chairman
At Premier Miton, Mr. Williams will lead an asset management group with around £10bn of assets under management. The company was formed from the merger of Premier Asset Management and Miton Group in 2019.
Current Performance of Premier Miton
Its shares are up around 7% in the last year, giving the company a market capitalization of around £95m. Investors will be watching for signs of further cost-cutting opportunities as well as Chief Executive Officer Mike O’Shea’s efforts to stem recent outflows.
Announcement of the New Chairman
Sources said Mr. Williams’ appointment was likely to be announced alongside the fund manager’s annual results on Thursday. A spokesman for Premier Miton declined to comment.
