Removal of Aerosmith Pre-Show Video

The fan-favorite Aerosmith pre-show video that played before boarding the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been removed without warning. The presentation, which featured band frontman Steven Tyler, guitarists Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford, and drummer Joey Kramer, introduced guests to the roller coaster’s history since it opened in 1999.

Reason for Removal

The removal of the pre-show video is to make way for construction to begin on converting the ride into a Muppet-style coaster, set to open in 2026. The pre-show area has been boarded up and covered overnight, and the ride will remain open to visitors at least through the end of the year.

Current State of the Ride

The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will continue to operate, but the pre-show area will be closed as the crew prepares a new presentation featuring Kermit, Scooter, the Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem band, as well as the penguin animatronics from the previous MuppetVision 3D show. The current idea behind the ride is for guests to drop in for an Aerosmith recording session before the band members invite them into their "gleaming limousine" as they speed down busy highways to their concert.

Features of the Ride

The ride features a 32,000-watt audio system with 125 speakers, 14 subwoofers, and plays Aerosmith hits such as "Walk This Way," "Sweet Emotion," "Back in the Saddle," and "Love in an Elevator," rewritten as "Love in a Roller Coaster."

Upcoming Changes

In the Muppets version of the ride, the Electric Mayhem band will be headlining a major Hollywood concert, and the riders will be searching for the group after they disappear. The iconic giant red guitar in front of the building will be enhanced with a "vibrant and psychedelic new design." The new ride will take guests on a winding and fun road trip through Hollywood to get to the concert in time, with the help of Muppet Labs and a fast limousine.

Reaction from Fans

Some Disney World fans have expressed their disappointment at the removal of the Aerosmith pre-show, writing that it was a big part of the Aerosmith-themed ride. The change has been met with mixed reactions, with some fans looking forward to the new Muppet-style coaster and others mourning the loss of the classic Aerosmith pre-show.
