Healthcare Crisis Looms as Insurance Premiums Set to Rise

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia is calling on Congress to act quickly to address rising health care costs for millions of Americans whose insurance premiums could soon rise sharply. Like many of her Democratic colleagues, Greene recognizes the urgency of the situation, stating that the tax credits put in place by Democrats are expiring, which could lead to a financial crisis for Americans.

A Bipartisan Issue

Greene emphasized that she doesn’t see any political party lines on this issue, and that it’s essential for both parties to work together to find a solution. About 22 million low- and middle-income Americans rely on the tax credits to lower their health insurance costs when they purchase policies through the Affordable Care Act marketplaces.

Democrats Respond to Greene’s Views

House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries took note of Greene’s views on health care, stating that she has made it clear that the healthcare crisis is real and that Republicans have no healthcare plan. Jeffries acknowledged that Democrats are right to fight to expand the Affordable Care Act tax credits.

Republican Reaction

Top Republicans have also noticed Greene’s stance on the issue. Earlier this week, President Trump criticized Greene after she criticized him for focusing on foreign policy rather than high domestic prices. Greene responded by saying that she’s not wrong, she’s just for the American people, and that she makes no apologies to anyone for that.

Personal Experience with Rising Healthcare Costs

Greene shared her personal experience with rising healthcare costs, stating that her family’s health insurance went from $800 to over $2,400 a month after the Affordable Care Act went into effect. She emphasized that she recognizes that the American people have been wronged and wants her party to come up with a solution and a plan to fix the mess once and for all.

Call for Bipartisan Solution

Greene called for both Republicans and Democrats to work together to find a good solution for healthcare for the American people. She hopes that by putting the American people first, Congress can find a way to address the rising healthcare costs and provide a more affordable solution for millions of Americans.
