Introduction to Amanda Hirsch
Amanda Hirsch, from the popular Instagram handle “Not thin, but not fat” and the eponymous celebrity interview podcast, became the first podcaster to interview the Kardashian sisters. She shared with The Post what amazed her about Kim along the way during her sitdown in 2022.
Kim Kardashian’s Down-to-Earth Personality
Hirsch was shocked when Kim said, "Oh, I don’t have a side," when asked where she would like to sit for the interview, referring to celebrities’ preference for being filmed on the side of their face that is most flattering. Hirsch was also surprised to learn that the real-life royal family is so down-to-earth. They didn’t ask her a whole list of questions, and they don’t march with a whole entourage like a lot of other people do.
Interviewing the Kardashian Sisters
Hirsch has interviewed Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and matriarch Kris Jenner. During her conversation with Kim, which took place at the headquarters of her shapewear brand Skims, her daughter North was "there playing basketball… in the middle of our interview." Hirsch’s one-on-one with Kourtney was at the star’s LA mansion in the summer of 2023, where Kourtney turned on her electric fireplace to add to the aesthetic, despite it being 30 degrees outside.
Hirsch’s Career
Hirsch began sharing her perspective on celebrities and pop culture on Instagram in 2016. She recalled the aha moment she had that same year when Kourtney liked a playful post she wrote. Her first interviews took place in the kitchen of her then-one-bedroom Upper East Side apartment — and now she’s interviewing the biggest names in Hollywood.
Interviewing A-List Celebrities
Hirsch has interviewed Ryan Reynolds, who she described as "so great, so nice." He made a video for her son because she told him her son liked Deadpool, and he wrote her a thank-you note. Another important A-lister moment for Hirsch was when Jennifer Aniston admired her hair, saying, "Oh, your highlights are so good. Who does them?" Hirsch was shocked because Aniston is "obviously the queen of hair."
Dream Celebrity Podcast Guest
At the moment, Hirsch is busy presenting her dream celebrity podcast guest, Meghan Markle. Her goal would be for people to say, "Oh my God, I love her now. She was so funny and so sweet." When Markle launched her Netflix series "With Love, Meghan" in March, Hirsch expressed concern about the hate the Duchess of Sussex might receive over it. Markle acknowledged that sentiment by giving Hirsch her "As Ever" jam and a handwritten note that read, "Dear Amanda, I heard you were scared. Don’t worry! That’s the fun part — let’s enjoy it."
