Introduction to a Despicable Act

A woman who lied about donating a kidney to a seriously ill man has been sentenced to five months in prison. The 54-year-old had contacted the man, who needed a kidney transplant, and his wife after they asked for a donor. The couple believed the woman was an "angel" who would save the man’s life.

The Deception

The woman told the couple that she was a match, everything was fine, and that the surgery would be performed within a few months. She also met with the couple, who gave her a gift as a thank you. However, it was later discovered that the woman had never applied to be a donor and had never even submitted a form or made a phone call to the kidney team.

The Consequences

The couple’s "world had collapsed" when they found out the truth. The man’s kidney function had dropped to 9% during the six months they believed the woman was a donor, and he had to have surgery to insert dialysis tubes. The couple’s search for a donor had been called off, and they were left in agony when they woke up to the reality of the situation.

A Pitiful Act of Wickedness

The judge described the woman’s actions as a "pitiful act of wickedness" and said she was an "emotional parasite" who fed on the couple’s desperation and enjoyed giving them false hope. The judge stated that the woman had presented herself as an angel or a savior and received praise and recognition for it when she knew she was being vicious.

The Judge’s Verdict

The judge said, "You presented yourself as an angel or a savior and received praise and recognition for it when you knew that you were as vicious a process in their lives as any illness or disease." He also stated that the woman’s behavior was "disgusting" and that she had "demanded that a member of the transplant team step away from their work, sit in court, and listen to you lie about them, their procedures, and their professionalism."

The Impact on the Family

The couple’s world had stopped when the woman’s lies and evil schemes were exposed. The judge said, "A family saw you as their savior, and then their world stopped when your lies and evil schemes were exposed." The couple was horrified when they realized the woman had been lying to them the whole time.

The Sentence

The judge sentenced the woman to five months in prison, stating that his sentencing powers were "hardly adequate" for the offense. He said, "I cannot imagine a more cruel act." The judge also stressed that people like the woman, living in the online world, need to learn that actions have consequences.

The Aftermath

After the verdict, the woman appealed and was released on bail. The couple is still trying to come to terms with what happened, and the man has since received a kidney from a legitimate donor. However, the six months he wasted believing the woman was a donor could have had serious physical consequences. The judge’s final words to the woman were, "A family in the fight of their lives found you on their doorstep and offered you help and salvation. You always knew that what you were doing was an act of practiced and consummate wickedness."
