Introduction to the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmys
The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmys, a night dedicated to celebrating the best in daytime television, concluded on Friday in Pasadena, California. Hosted by Mario Lopez at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, the event saw ABC’s "General Hospital" take home the award for Best Drama Series, marking its second consecutive win.
Top Winners of the Night
"General Hospital" led the pack with several wins, including the prestigious Best Drama Series award. It topped a category that included this year’s leading nominee, "The Young and the Restless," and Peacock’s "Days of Our Lives." Notably, "General Hospital" won the first seven trophies of the night.
Outstanding Performances
In the Lead Actress category, Nancy Lee Grahn won her third Emmy for her role as Alexis Davis in "General Hospital." Paul Telfer took home the award for Lead Actor for his portrayal of Xander Kiriakis in "Days of Our Lives." Supporting actor categories saw wins for Susan Walters from "The Young and the Restless" and Jonathan Jackson from "General Hospital." Lisa Yamada of "The Bold and the Beautiful" was recognized as the Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series.
Daytime Talk Series and More
"Live with Kelly & Mark" surpassed last year’s winner, "The Kelly Clarkson Show," to win in the Daytime Talk Series category. Drew Barrymore accepted the trophy for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host. Syndicated shows had a strong night, with "Live with Kelly & Mark" and "Hot Bench" among the winners. Netflix led all platforms with nine wins, followed closely by ABC with eight wins.
Additional Wins and Recognitions
Other notable wins include "The Secret Life of Animals" taking home three Emmys, including Outstanding Science and Nature Program, and "The Drew Barrymore Show" winning for Outstanding Directing Team for a Multi-Camera Daytime Non-Fiction Program. "Entertainment Tonight" won in the Entertainment News Series and Daytime Personality – Daily categories. Kardea Brown from "Delicious Miss Brown" was awarded Outstanding Culinary Host.
