Reeves recalled that when he was 20 years old and had just moved to Los Angeles, his manager approached him with the idea of changing his name. Although initially surprised, Reeves did consider alternative name options. He thought about using his middle name, Charles, and going by "Chuck" or even "Chuck Spadina," which was inspired by the street where he grew up. Another option he considered was "Templeton," and for a brief period, he was recognized as "KC Reeves."

In fact, Reeves was credited as KC Reeves for an episode of the 1986 anthology series The Magical World of Disney. However, he didn’t explain why his manager had suggested the change. Nonetheless, the name didn’t stick for long, as Reeves eventually decided against it.

Reeves shared that during auditions, when introduced as "KC Reeves," he wouldn’t even respond. It took him about six months to realize that he couldn’t continue with the new name. He decided to revert to his original name, marking a significant moment in his Hollywood journey.
