Introduction to 100 Nights of Hero

If last summer was dominated by their music, Charli XCX wants to take the film world by storm in winter 2025. Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Isabel Greenberg, 100 Nights Full of Heroes is the second feature film from the British writer and director Julia Jackman after her celebrated debut, Bonus Track. The film stars XCX alongside a star-studded cast including Maika Monroe, Amir El Masry, Nicholas Galitzine, and effortlessly brilliant Emma Corrin, and recently closed the BFI London Film Festival to wonderful applause.

Early Response and Reviews

In fact, the early response to this was so impressive that 100 Nights Full of Heroes has earned a perfect score of 100% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. A feat reserved for only the most worthy projects. While this 100 percent rating comes from just 10 reviews so far, a perfect opening move for Charli’s latest foray to the big screen is yet another reason to believe her film future is bright. The film is scheduled to be released in cinemas on December 5, 2025, in the US and in Charli’s native UK in January next year.

Film Synopsis

The synopsis of the film is: “When a charming house guest (Nicholas Galitzine) arrives at a remote castle, the delicate dynamic between a negligent husband, his innocent bride Cherry (Maika Monroe), and their devoted maid Hero (Emma Corrin) is thrown into chaos.”

Critical Acclaim

Given its fantastic cast, the growing reputation of its writer/director, and the acclaimed legacy of the source material, 100 Nights Full of Heroes had a lot going in its favor before its festival debut in September. But since the bar was set high, there was room to disappoint early viewers. Luckily, the film didn’t do that. Anna Miller, in her 9/10 review for Collider, called it a "visually stunning feminist fantasy." "While at first glance the film may simply seem like a crazy comedic fantasy, just like its protagonists, it is not to be underestimated," Miller wrote, adding: "100 Nights Full of Heroes is a profound and folkloric story that evangelizes the beauty and importance of female solidarity, creative power, and resistance to oppression. Political if playful, satirical yet thought-provoking, it radically challenges modern societal norms, the foundations of fables and fairy tales written largely by men throughout history, and the ever-changing and growing role of women and queer voices in both art and humanity."

Release Details

100 Nights Full of Heroes hits theaters on December 5th. The film has a duration of 90 minutes and is directed and written by Julia Jackman, with Isabel Greenberg also credited as a writer. The producers of the film include Nicholas Galitzine and Grant S. Johnson. With its perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes and its visually stunning portrayal of a feminist fantasy, 100 Nights Full of Heroes is set to make a significant impact in the film world this winter.
