Introduction to Diwali Celebrations on Emirates
Emirates is making this Diwali extra special for passengers by offering some sweet experiences on board. The Dubai-based airline has organized Diwali fun and entertainment on board flights to and from India from October 17 to 24.
Diwali Delicacies
Diwali delicacies will be served in all classes and select lounges for customers traveling to and from Dubai to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata and Mumbai.
Magnificent Diwali Sweets
Customers celebrating Diwali on these routes will be treated to a selection of sumptuous Diwali sweets. Premium Economy and Economy Class customers can enjoy a traditional treat with their hot meal such as Motichoor Laddu – a traditional dessert made of fried chickpea flour balls, sweetened with sugar syrup, scented with cardamom and saffron and garnished with pistachios. First and Business Class customers are also offered a Kaju Pista Roll, a creamy cashew and pistachio roll flavored with roses, dried fruits and nuts, wrapped in silver leaves.
Classic Desserts in First and Business Class Lounges
At Emirates’ First and Business Class lounges in Dubai, customers can enjoy onion kachoris and paneer potli samosa served with tamarind chutney and mint chutney, followed by sweet treats like mango sandwich and classic Diwali desserts – balushahi, sweet and spongy kesar rasgullas and the popular Gajar Ka Halwa. At Emirates lounges in Cape Town and Johannesburg, where there is a sizeable Indian diaspora, travelers can enjoy more delicious desserts such as gulab jamun or traditional rice pudding washed down with a refreshing mango lassi.
Diwali Ambience
Customers can spend their flight in the festive mood with up to 167 Indian films, including new and classic Bollywood films. The award-winning inflight entertainment system Ice also offers a wide selection of Indian regional films in nine languages - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Bengali and Gujarati. Customers can also watch 14 Indian television programs, including hits like The Traitors India and Love, Life, Lafde with Zakir Khan. For a Diwali atmosphere on board, music fans can browse 40 Indian albums and playlists.
