Introduction to TWS

TWS, a six-piece K-pop boy band, has created a sound that is consistently energetic and undeniably youthful. The group, consisting of members Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, and Kyungmin, ranges in age from 18 to 21 years old. Their latest EP, Play hard, continues this tradition of celebrating the highs, thrills, and chaos of being young.

The Making of Play hard

"For this album, the main key phrases are ‘You drive me crazy’ and ‘Youth drives me crazy,’" says Youngjae. The group’s fourth EP ventures into new sonic territory with several songs, including the pre-release single "Heads Shoulders Knees Toes". This album’s first track goes heavier than most TWS singles, despite its sweet title, and has allowed the group to explore an edgier side as they transition into young adulthood.

Creative Contributions

Some members of TWS were creatively involved in the album, whether it was writing lyrics or choreographing. Jihoon wrote some lyrics and did a bit of choreography, learning a lot during this experience. Dohoon also contributed to the album, finding it a great honor to be involved creatively. The group hopes that in the future, all members can contribute ideas, whether in the form of lyrics or making songs out of their ideas.

Favorite Tracks

Each member of TWS has a favorite track on the album. Intestey’s favorite song is "Overdrive" because it expresses the passion they have for something they love. Kyungmin’s favorite song is "Here for You" because it’s about waiting for their fans, whom they love so much. Jihoon’s favorite song is "Caffeine Rush" because it’s an acoustic song that showcases the group’s instrumental side. Shinyu likes "Hot Blue Shoes" because it showcases TWS’ passion in the vocals. Dohoon chooses "Head Shoulders Knees Tees" because the performance is great, showing a completely new side of the group. Youngjae’s favorite track is "Overthinking" because it has a lot of pop elements and a romantic hook.

Lessons Learned

As a group, TWS has learned a lot about themselves as artists and individuals. Shinyu thinks they’ve had a lot of opportunities to connect with their fans, known as "42", through various tours and concerts. These experiences have made them grow, and they hope to get to know more fans and share their music and energy with them. Jihoon has learned that all six members are hardworking and passionate, which has taught him to be passionate and define what it means to be passionate through his group mates.

Message to Fans

TWS wants their music to bring hope and energy to people going through hard times. They hope that when people listen to their music, they can be reminded of their youth and feel energetic again. The group has a message for their US fans: they will try their best and work hard until their songs and messages reach the US, and they hope people will show interest in their music and like it. They want to be a group that supports and roots for their fans. Youngjae is excited to return to the US, performing in better shape and with more energy, after feeling the audience’s energy at previous performances, including KCON LA, iHeartRadio, the MAMA Awards, the Grammy Museum, and VEVO Studios.
