Introduction to The Revenge of La Llorona

Fans of The Incantation franchise have something to look forward to after the surprisingly successful theatrical release of Last Rites. Although it is not considered a continuation of the acclaimed universe, The Curse of La Llorona will finally return with a sequel that has been shelved several times, at least once during pre-production. The exciting project, titled The Revenge of La Llorona, has unveiled its cast list alongside the award-winning director as production begins in New York.

Cast and Production

On October 9, 2025, it was confirmed that The Revenge of La Llorona will star Jay Hernandez, as well as Monica Raymond. Joining them is Raymond Cruz, who played the role of “Curandero” in The Curse of La Llorona. Other names announced include rising stars Anny, Martin Fajardo, Acston Luca Porto, and Avie Postage. Production on the sequel began on October 6, 2025, with filming taking place in Buffalo, New York.

Director and Screenplay

Directing The Revenge of La Llorona is Canadian filmmaker Santiago Menghini, known for his award-winning short film Milk and who made his feature film debut with the 2021 horror film Nobody Gets Out Alive. Sean Tretta, who worked with James Wan on the feature set of Creature from the Black Lagoon at Universal, wrote the film’s screenplay. Meanwhile, Wan returns as producer, along with Emile Gladstone and Gary Dauberman.

What is The Revenge of La Llorona About?

With The Revenge of La Llorona now in production, things are looking up for the horror film after it was last shelved in early 2024, possibly due to budget issues. In this highly anticipated sequel, the vengeful spirit La Llorona returns, forcing a fractured family to confront their past and team up with their estranged curandero grandfather to fight ancient evils – as the Weeping Woman claims her children forever. Executive producers of the film are Mia Maniscalco, Jamie Buckner, Michael Clear, and Judson Scott.

Conclusion

Stay tuned for more details on what’s new in the Incantation entry, including a release date. The Revenge of La Llorona is set to bring a new level of horror to the franchise, and with its talented cast and crew, it’s sure to be a hit among fans of the genre.
