Introduction to Pete Wicks

Pete Wicks, a reality TV star, has expressed his passion for caring for dogs, stating that he would die a happy man if he could spend the rest of his life doing so. Wicks rose to fame after appearing on The Only Way Is Essex in 2015 and has since participated in other reality shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and Celebs Go Dating.

New Season of "Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake"

Wicks is back with a new season of his documentary series "Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake," which aims to educate viewers about the process of rehoming at-risk dogs. The 36-year-old star said, "I hope everyone enjoys it as much as they did the first time because if I could do this until the day I die, I could be a very happy man."

Success of the First Season

The first season of the documentary series was released earlier this year and won the award for Best Popular Factual Program at the Broadcast Digital Awards. The jury praised the show for its warmth and storytelling. Wicks described the second series as "bigger, better, deeper – lots more tears and lots more happy endings and, most importantly, lots of dogs."

Impact on Dog Adoption

The Dogs Trust Rehoming Center in Basildon reported an increase in footfall and interest in the charity after being featured on the TV show. The trust also saw a 30% increase in adoption applications. Wicks hopes that the new series will lead to even more dogs being adopted, stating that the show is not about him, but about the dogs and the people who work at the Dogs Trust.

Upcoming Episodes and Seasons

The new series of "Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake" will be shown on Monday on the free-to-air channels U&W and U. Fans can also look forward to a third season and a Christmas special, which have already been picked up. Wicks praised the "selfless" attitude of the people at the Dogs Trust, describing it as "truly incredible" to see their passion for dogs.

Raising Awareness about Dog Welfare

Wicks believes that the documentary series will raise awareness about the welfare of dogs and the importance of adoption. He said, "As a nation of dog lovers, viewers can see in great detail what some of these dogs go through." The series shows the resilience and loving nature of dogs, despite the challenges they face, and Wicks hopes that it will inspire more people to adopt dogs in need.
