Introduction to The Uprising
Oscar nominee Paul Greengrass has renamed his picture formerly known as Peasants’ Revolt to The Uprising. This change comes as five new actors join the cast, including Jamie Bell, Cosmo Jarvis, Thomasin McKenzie, Jonny Lee Miller, and Woody Norman.
Cast and Characters
Details about the characters are not yet known, but production is already underway. As previously announced, Andrew Garfield plays the legendary leader of a cruel rebellion against the tyranny of King Richard II. Katherine Waterston has also been announced as a cast member. The new additions to the cast will likely play important roles in the story, but their specific characters have not been disclosed.
Production and Distribution
Jason Blum is producing The Uprising via Blumhouse, along with Gregory Goodman, Joanna Kaye, and Greengrass, as well as Lars Sylvest via Thank You Pictures and Joe Neurauter via Supernix. Focus Features will distribute the film domestically after acquiring it from the Cannes market in a deal reportedly worth $11 million.
Upcoming Releases
The Uprising is not the only film on the horizon for Focus Features. After the release of The Lost Bus, a California fire drama directed by Greengrass, the company will distribute several other films. These include Anemone, the Ronan Day-Lewis drama that brought his Oscar-winning father Daniel Day-Lewis out of retirement, and the Yorgos Lanthimos-Emma Stone reboot Bugonia. Other films scheduled for release this fall include Hamnet, Lurkers, The History of Sound, and Song Sung Blue.

The new cast members are represented by various talent agencies.
