Flight Diversion

Introduction to the Incident

An Air India flight on the Vienna-New Delhi route was diverted to Dubai due to a suspected technical problem. The aircraft landed safely in Dubai and departed after the necessary checks.

Passenger Care and Safety

All passengers were informed of the delay and refreshments were provided. The airline took care to ensure that the passengers were comfortable and informed throughout the diversion process.

Details of the Diversion

According to the airline’s records, flight AI-154 landed in Dubai at 4:07 a.m. local time, almost five and a half hours after taking off from Vienna. A non-stop journey from Vienna to New Delhi usually takes around 8 hours and 15 minutes.

Similar Incidents

Earlier, on October 4, an Air India flight AI-117, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, landed safely in Birmingham after the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) was deployed. RAT is a small, fold-out, windmill-like device used in emergencies when the aircraft loses main electrical or hydraulic power.
