BlumFest 2025 Celebrates 15th Anniversary with Exclusive Footage and Announcements
Blumhouse studio founder Jason Blum kicked off the BlumFest 2025 panel at New York Comic Con, discussing his vision for the next decade and a half. He expressed his pride in discovering and promoting new talent, citing Jordan Peele as an example. Upcoming Projects and Announcements
Blum announced several upcoming film and television titles, including Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, Jessica Chastain’s The Other Mom, and the series Shoe with Nicole Kidman. He also teased Insidious: The Red Door, which is set to arrive next fall. Additionally, Robin Finck from Nine Inch Nails and Eyes Out Studio joined the panel to discuss Sleep Awake, an upcoming Blumhouse game that utilizes full-motion video in a 3D game space.
Sleep Awake: A New Gaming Experience
Sleep Awake is set in a stunning world that focuses on environmental storytelling, featuring unique story-driven puzzles, intense stealth, and chase sequences. The game takes place in a world where people are desperate to stay awake, as those who succumb to sleep disappear, leaving behind only empty shadows. The soundtrack for the game will be released on Milan Records.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and Black Phone 2
The panel also featured exclusive footage and announcements for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and Black Phone 2. Director Emma Tammi, actress Elizabeth Lail, and Matthew Lillard appeared on stage to discuss Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, teasing that fans can expect more animatronics, including Toy Freddie and Toy Bonnie. The cast and creative team are excited about the sequel, which will feature more lore and jump scares.
Casting Announcement for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2
Tammi revealed that Megan Fox will be joining the voice cast as Toy Chica, along with Kellen Goff (Toy Freddy) and MatPat (Toy Bonnie). Fox’s children are huge fans of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise, and she was excited to be a part of the project. Tammi praised Fox’s performance, saying she did an amazing job and brought a unique energy to the character.
Black Phone 2: Exclusive Footage and Cast Discussion
The panel also featured exclusive footage from Black Phone 2, with cast members Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Miguel Mora, and Demián Bichir in attendance. Writer Joe Hill introduced the sequel and discussed the impact of the first film, as well as what makes the sequel different tonally. Hawke shared his experience with director Scott Derrickson’s pitch for the sequel, which he found breathtaking.
The Cast’s Experience with Black Phone 2
Thames expressed his excitement about returning to the franchise and expanding the world of the characters. McGraw teased that her character, Gwen, is completely different from the first film, having been shaped by the trauma she experienced. Mora discussed the challenges of playing a character who has lost a loved one and is dealing with grief. The cast’s discussion provided a glimpse into the emotional depth and complexity of the sequel.
