Introduction to Jisoo and Zayn Malik’s New Duet
Jisoo and Zayn Malik have teamed up for a new duet titled “Eyes Closed.” The single, released today via Warner Records, is a little different from Jisoo’s previous solo releases and features the use of acoustic guitar throughout. It’s also the first official English-language single for the 30-year-old K-pop star and actor; Over the summer, she released a special video for her English-language B-side “Your Love.”
The Music Video and Song Meaning
In the “Eyes Closed” music video, Jisoo and Malik find themselves in space, belting out and singing to each other in a spaceship. “We should fall in love with our eyes closed / Better if we keep it where we don’t know / The beds we’ve been in, the names and the faces of those we’ve been with,” the two sing together in the song’s chorus. The single also marks a global mix of girl group and boy band, with Jisoo being a member of the world’s biggest girl group Blackpink and Malik a former member of record-breaking boy band One Direction.
Current Projects and Upcoming Events
Jisoo is in the middle of Blackpink’s world tour that began with the release of the four-piece band’s first group song in nearly three years, "Jump." Meanwhile, Malik is preparing for a stay in Las Vegas at the end of 2026. The "Earthquake" singer found her solo home with Warner Records earlier this year, which included her debut solo EP, published in February. Jisoo’s Blackpink groupmates – Jennie, Lisa and Rosé – are all signed to various labels as solo artists, but remain as a group with their Korean label YG Entertainment.
Acting Career and Other Ventures
Jisoo, who is pursuing a career as an actress alongside her solo career, is set to star in an upcoming Netflix K-drama, a romantic drama series about an overworked young woman who turns to a virtual reality dating program in search of a way out. Earlier this week, it was announced that Malik and his former One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson would be reuniting for a Netflix road trip series. The three-part documentary series follows the two singers as they reunite during their trips to America.
