Introduction to Amrum

The highly anticipated film Amrum by Fatih Akin has been making waves in the cinematic world. Beta Cinema has successfully sold the film to major territories, with its release in Germany scheduled for this weekend.

Global Distribution

Amrum has secured new deals in several countries, including Australia and New Zealand with Palace Films, India with Big Tree Entertainment, Latin America with Synapse Distribution, Portugal with Pris audiovisuais, Scandinavia with Angel Films, Italy with Bim Distribuzione, Greece with Rosebud.21, Turkey with Filmarti, and Ukraine with Svod.21. The film was previously sold to North America, France, Spain, Japan, and Benelux.

Film Background

Amrum premiered in the Cannes Premiere section at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The film is based on real events, including German filmmaker Hark Bohm’s childhood memories. It follows the story of 12-year-old Nanning as he uncovers his family’s secret on the remote island of Amrum in the final weeks of World War II.

Cast and Production

The film features a talented cast, including Jasper Billerbeck, Laura Tonke, Lisa Hagmeister, Kian Koppke, Matthias Schweigher, and Diane Kruger. Amrum is produced by Laura Forte for Germany’s Bomber International and Warner Bros Film Productions Germany. The film has received backing from several German funds, including FFA, DFFF, Moin Film Demand Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, BKM, MBB, MFG, and Bavarian Film Prize.

Release Date

Warner Bros Germany is set to release Amrum in German-speaking areas on October 9th. With its unique storyline and talented cast, the film is expected to captivate audiences worldwide.
