Introduction to the Collection
This season, a new collection is being introduced, featuring shoes for the first time. The shoes are variations on the traditional boat shoe, a style that holds personal significance. The designer grew up with boat shoes and spent a lot of time in Provincetown, New England, working in the harbor and on boats. The small shoe collection is available in the showroom and is a charming addition to the overall collection.
Accessories and Collaborations
Backstage at the show, there are tables of accessories, particularly jewelry. The jewelry includes safety pins, studs, and beads made in bold proportions in collaboration with an Antwerp-based jewelry brand. However, the brand currently only produces jewelry for the show and supports another Belgian brand.
Handbags and Inspiration
The collection also features handbags, although they are not a traditional handbag collection. The designer was inspired by vintage woodcut sacks, which consist of two handles and a piece of fabric wrapped in wood for transport. In the show, models carried flowers in these types of bags, adding a touch of elegance to the overall look.
Belts and Accessories
For the SS26 collection, double lace belts are being introduced. The belts are not meant to be restrictive, but rather to create a stronger accessory identity. The designer believes that women should not be put in harnesses or corsets, but rather should be free to move and express themselves. The belts are a nod to the punk language, adding an edge to the overall collection. The designer’s goal is to create clothing and accessories for women who have jobs, families, and responsibilities, and who want to look and feel great without being restricted.
