Introduction to Recent Films

Paul Thomas Anderson, a renowned director, has recently enjoyed the relative success of his film, One battle after another, which is considered to have the highest influence of his amazing career. His frequent collaborator, actor Daniel Day-Lewis, has also made a potential return in the film anemone. This marks Day-Lewis’ first film since Phantom thread, which was directed by Anderson and released in 2017. After Phantom thread, Day-Lewis announced his retirement, a decision he adhered to until his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, brought him back to the screen with his debut feature film, anemone.

Daniel Day-Lewis’ Return to the Screen

While Day-Lewis is not known for delivering enormous openings, his return to the screen in anemone was enough to generate interest in the film. Day-Lewis is considered one of the most valuable film actors of his generation, with three Oscars to his name. His performance in Anderson’s There will be blood is regarded as one of the greatest ever captured on film. Day-Lewis received predictable applause for his work in anemone, but the film itself received mixed reviews. On the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, anemone holds a 56% score, with critics consensus stating that the film is more of a showcase for Day-Lewis’ magnetism and the debut director Ronan Day-Lewis’ stylistic flair than a cohesive drama.

Box Office Performance of anemone

The psychological horror film anemone played in the first three days of its release at around 865 locations in Germany, earning below $700,000. This is not a small amount for a limited release, but it is also not enough to qualify as a wide release. anemone ranked below titles with low earnings such as Him, The strangers: Chapter 2, and three re-releases Avatar: The path of water, Perfectly blue, and Casper.

One battle after another Success

On the other hand, One battle after another has adopted the coveted brand of $100 million at the global box office. The action-adventure film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, has a long way to go to recover its reported budget of around $140 million. However, the film’s positive reviews and audience reception are good indicators for its future, as is its relatively soft second-week decline. One battle after another has consolidated as a front-runner for the best picture at the Oscars.

Film Details

anemone is directed by Ronan Day-Lewis and stars Daniel Day-Lewis. The film was released on October 10, 2025, and has a duration of 97 minutes. Despite the mixed reviews, Day-Lewis’ performance in anemone is a must-see for fans of the actor and the horror genre. With its unique storyline and stylistic flair, anemone is a film that will keep audiences engaged and interested in the world of cinema.
